Caribbean Cup: U.S. Virgin Islands Sends D.R. Home; Curacao Improves to 3-0

U.S. Virgin Islands (1-2) 3, Dominican Republic (0-4) 2 – The U.S. Virgin Islands won their first game at the 7th Caribbean Baseball Cup over the Dominican Republic 3-2, the best performance by the Dominicans in the tournament.

With this result, the U.S. Virgin Islands are 1-2, and they will face Curacao on the last day of the preliminaries in Nassau, while the Dominican Republic finished last in the Cup with a score of 0-4.

Jonathan Ponder went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and scored a run for the Virgin Islands, while Isronel Wilson had a triple and an RBI.

Virgin Islands starter Jordan Scott threw five no-hit innings, allowing two unearned runs on four walks and struck out four.

Curacao (3-0) 3, The Bahamas (2-1) 2 – Mairoshendrick Martinus went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI and Christian Diaz went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI as Curacao improved to 3-0.

Curacao starter Siamani Boekhoudt allowed one run on four hits over five innings, walking two and striking out one to earn the win.

Daunte Stuart went 2-for-3 with a double for the Bahamas.
