Caribbean Winter League Neutral Site Events Ledger: Choque de Gigantes Event – Miami
World Baseball Network will categorize a guide for Caribbean Winter League events from late September until mid-November for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Choque de Gigantes:
The Miami Marlins announced on July 19 the confirmation of the Choque de Gigantes event with teams from LIDOM, the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional, and the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente. The event will feature six games across three days and be held from November 8 to 10 at loanDepot Park.
The Navegantes del Magallanes and the Leones del Caracas from LVBP, the Estrellas de Orientales from LIDOM, and the Criollos de Caguas and the Cangrejeros de Santurce from LBPRC will participate at the Choque de Gigantes event.

The six organizations have a combined 76 league championships across the three leagues. The Leones del Caracas have 18 league titles, the Navegantes del Magallanes have 13 league titles, the Cardenales de Lara have five league titles, the Criollos de Caguas have 21 league championships, Cangrejeros de Santurce have 16 league championships, and Estrellas de Orientales have three league titles.
“Following the exciting announcement of loanDepot park serving as host of the 2028 Caribbean Series, we are proud to introduce the Choque de Gigantes, a new international tournament featuring historic clubs from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela,” Caroline O’Connor, Miami Marlins President of Business Operations said on MLB.com.
This will be the second club event the Marlins have hosted since the Serie de las Américas 2015 during the 2015-16 regular season.
Juan A. Flores Galarza is the President of the LPBRC, Giuseppe Palmisano is the President of the LVBP, and Vitelio Mejía Ortiz is the President of LIDOM, which helped organize the Choque de Gigantes event in Miami.
According to MLB.com, “Ticket buyers for the upcoming Venezuelan Heritage Celebration on Saturday, July 20, and as well as past buyers for the Puerto Rican Heritage Celebration, will receive priority access to ticket packages for the Choque de Gigantes event, beginning on Thursday, July 25. As part of their exemplary benefits and access, Marlins Members will have the first chance with a special two-day pre-sale on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 23-24. Tickets will be available to the general public on Friday, July 26”.
