Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa has officially confirmed his interest in representing Puerto Rico at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
In a recent interview with MB Sports TV, Correa was asked about his plans for the upcoming WBC and left no doubt about his commitment:
“I am 100% available to represent Puerto Rico at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.”
Correa is currently batting .264/.304/.389 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs in the 2025 season. He previously opted out of the 2023 WBC to be present for the birth of his child. However, he was a standout performer in the 2017 tournament, posting an impressive 1.250 OPS with three home runs in eight games, leading the team in homers and helping Puerto Rico reach the championship game for the second consecutive time.
In 2026, Correa is expected to start at third base, joining a stacked lineup that could players such as Francisco Lindor, Javy Báez, Willi Castro, Kiké Hernández, and Riley Greene, as Puerto Rico continues its pursuit of its first WBC title.
Puerto Rico will host Pool A in San Juan and is set to open the tournament on March 6 against Colombia. They will also face Panama, Cuba, and Canada, aiming to advance past the first round for a sixth consecutive time.
