Carlos Delgado, Carlos Gomez to Manage LIDOM, LBPRC All-Stars At Citi Field In November

Former Major League Baseball players Carlos Gomez and Carlos Delgado will managed All-Star teams from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, respectively, when they face off at Citi Field in November according to La UCA Deportes on Instagram.

The All-Star Game, scheduled for November 15, will pit the All-Stars of Puerto Rico’s Liga Beisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente against the All-Stars from the Liga de Beisbol Profesional de la Republica Dominicana. The game will be played in honor of Dominican infielder Robinson Cano, who played for both the Mets and New York Yankees during an 18-year MLB career.

Gomez, 39, retired after appearing in seven games with the Aguilas Cibaenas of LIDOM during the 2019-20 season. In the Major Leagues, Gomez appeared in 1,461 games with the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays, and New York Mets, batting .252/.313/.411 with 145 homers and 415 RBIs.

Delgado, 53, played 13 MLB seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, Florida Marlins, and New York Mets, making two All-Star Game appearances and winning two Silver Sluggers. He batted .2809/.383/.546 with 473 career homers and 1,512 RBIs, and had nine seasons where he hit at least 30 homers and drove in 100 runs. He retired after five games with Triple-A Pawtucket in 2010, and served as the batting coach for Puerto Rico at the 2013 and 2017 World Baseball Classics. He appeared in eight games in the LBPRC with the Gigantes de Carolina during the 2009-10 season, batting .280 with a homer and two RBIs.

The November All-Star Game marks the third consecutive season that there has been a exhibition game featuring teams from the Caribbean at Citi Field in November. In November 2023, LIDOM’s Aguilas Cibaenas and Tigres del Licey faced off in a three-game exhibition series, while in November 2024, the two teams played a single exhibition game in Flushing.
