The LSU Tigers swept the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in the national championship series to win the program’s eighth national championship.
LSU pitcher Chase Shores closed out the final 2 2/3 innings of the second game in the national championship series. He earned the save while striking out four Coastal Carolina hitters. Shores also allowed just one hit and no earned runs during the contest.
The national title-winning game was not the only time Shores showed how great he was out of the bullpen.
In the Tigers’ first game in Omaha against the Arkansas Razorbacks, Shores pitched a hitless and scoreless frame as LSU went on to win 4-1. He struck out two Arkansas hitters during that appearance.
He recorded another save before the Coastal Carolina game against the UCLA Bruins. In 1 1/3 innings of work, he allowed no hits and no runs to help close out the game.
During the three games against Arkansas (on June 14), UCLA, and Coastal Carolina, Shores allowed a combined one hit and no earned runs.
The right-hander from Midland, Texas was one of the heroes for the Tigers in winning the 2025 national championship. His presence out of the bullpen was huge, and it led to a couple saves credited to his name during the 2025 College World Series.
Shores finishes the 2025 season with a 5.09 ERA in 63 2/3 innings of work. He also had a record of 5-3 and struck out 70 batters.
The LSU pitcher is currently ranked 85th on MLB.com’s top 2025 draft prospects.
