On Wednesday, Premier12 Group B play in Asia began. Thus, Korea and Chinese Taipei battled in the Taipei Dome in Taiwan. Thanks to a Chen-Wei Chen grand slam, Chinese Taipei got the win over Korea, 6-3.
The big play that changed the course of the game was when Taipei left fielder Chen-Wei Chen hit a grand slam in the bottom of the second to get the scoring going. His teammate, Chieh-Hsien Chen, hit a two-run home run later in the inning to extend Chinese Taipei’s lead to 6-0.

Korea clawed back into the game to cut the lead in half. This was thanks to RBI hits from Doyeong Kim, Dongwon Park, and Seungyeup Na. Na homered in the seventh inning. However, it would not be enough as Chinese Taipei’s lead held enough to get them the win.
Taipei’s bullpen was great in the win as well. All five relievers that made appearances gave up five strikeouts and one earned run combined. This kept a Korea comeback from truly happening.
Korea will look to bounce back against Cuba in their next game on Thursday, Nov. 14. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 a.m. E.T. inside of Taipei Tianmu Stadium in Taipei City.
Chinese Taipei will play the Dominican Republic on Thursday, Nov. 14. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 a.m. E.T. inside the Taipei Dome.
