Amid a stretch of bullpen injuries, the Chicago White Sox called up right-hander Owen White from Triple-A Charlotte on June 6 ahead of their home series against the Kansas City Royals. White will be making his White Sox debut.

The move followed Chicago’s series finale against the Detroit Tigers on June 5, when right-hander Caleb Freeman was optioned back to Charlotte in a corresponding transaction.
Prior to today’s series finale vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Owen White from Class AAA Charlotte and optioned right-hander Caleb Freeman to Charlotte.

The 25-year-old from Mount Ulla, N.C. and has played two seasons in Major League Baseball with the Texas Rangers from 2023-24.
White was selected in the second round as the 55th overall pick in the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft and signed for a $1.5 million signing bonus after his senior year Jesse C. Carson High School in China Grove, N.C. and withdrew his commitment to play at the University of South Carolina.
White made his big league debut on June 13, 2023 at home against the Los Angeles Angels.
White in two seasons in the MLB, has only made five appearances with Texas and threw seven innings in five appearances out of the bullpen, posting a 0-1 record with a 16.71 ERA, allowing 14 hits, 13 earned runs, three home runs, three walks, and striking out four batters.
This season, White had an 0-5 record with Triple-A Charlotte in nine starts and posted a 5.24 ERA, throwing 44.2 innings, allowing 41 hits, 26 earned runs, four home runs, 27 walks, 36 strikeouts, and a 1.522 WHIP.
During the offseason, White was traded from the Rangers to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for cash considerations on January 6.
The Reds later designated him for assignment on January 29, prior to the New York Yankees claiming him from waivers on February 5.
The Yankees designated White for assignment on February 11, prior to the White Sox claiming him from waivers on February 17.
The White Sox later optioned White to Triple-A Charlotte on March 11, prior to the start of the 2025 season.
In the 2025 Cactus League season with the White Sox, White appeared in two games out of the bullpen and posted a 1-0 record without allowing an earned run, while throwing three innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Last season, White split his time between Triple-A Round Rock and the Rangers.
White went 2-8 with Triple-A Round Rock in 29 appearances and 15 starts and posted a 5.64 ERA, throwing 99 innings, allowing 107 hits, 62 earned runs, 14 home runs, 48 walks, 87 strikeouts and a 1.566 WHIP.
With Texas, White only appeared in three games out of the bullpen and had a 24.00 ERA, throwing three innings, allowing nine hits, eight earned runs, one home run, and one walk.
White will compete in the White Sox bullpen with Dan Altavilla, Jared Shuster, Steven Wilson, Bryse Wilson, Mike Vasil, Brandon Eisert, Jordan Leasure, and Cam Booser.
The White Sox under manager Will Venable are in last place in the American League Central Division at 20-43 and 20.5 games back of the first place Detroit Tigers at 41-23 and have five players in their bullpen on the injured list with Fraser Ellard on the 15-day injured list, Prelander Berroa on the 60-day injured list, Miguel Castro on the 60-day injured list, Jesse Scholtens on the 60-day injured list, and Tyler Gilbert on the 15-day injured list.
The White Sox will begin their three game home series at Rate Field against the (33-30) Kansas City Royals on June 6 at 7:40 p.m. EDT.
