The Los Angeles Angels’ number one prospect, Christian Moore, is set to make his Major League Baseball debut.

His first game will likely be this weekend. The Angels are in Camden Yards playing against the Baltimore Orioles.

College Career and MLB Draft

Moore was selected eighth overall in the 2024 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels after a great career with the Tennessee Volunteers in college.

He played in Knoxville from 2022 to 2024, and his last season was when he stepped on to the scene in a huge way.

During the 2024 season, Moore had a .375 batting average, a .451 on-base percentage, 34 home runs, and 74 RBI.

He helped lead Tennessee to a 60-win season that included a share of the SEC regular season title, the SEC Tournament title, and the program’s first-ever national championship.

Along the way, Moore was named first-team All-SEC and was also named an All-American by D1 Baseball.

The 34 home runs in the 2024 season is the school record at Tennessee. Moore also has the school record for career home runs with 61.

Minor Leagues Success

Moore flourished in the Angels’ minor league system early and often. He had only 11 at-bats with the Inland Empire 66ers in the California League before he was called up.

During that stretch of 11 at-bats at the single-A level, Moore had six hits and six RBI. Two of his hits were doubles, and he also had a home run.

He finished out the 2024 campaign with the Angels’ Double-A affiliate, the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

To finish out the 2024 baseball season, Moore had a .322 batting average in 90 at-bats. In those 90 at-bats, he had five home runs and 14 RBI as well.

He continued playing for the Trash Pandas to begin the 2025 season. Then, on May 20, he made his debut with the Angels’ triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees.

Moore found his groove again with the Bees as he finished with a .350 batting average in 80 at-bats.

He found power again in his last two games with Salt Lake on June 10 and 11. He had a home run in each game.

After 20 games with Salt Lake, he got the call up to the Major League level for the Angels.

Up Next

The Los Angeles Angels are currently 33-34 and third in the AL West. They are 4.5 games back from the Houston Astros, who lead the division.

Less than a year ago, Moore was drafted in the top ten of the 2024 MLB Draft. Now, the star hitter from Brooklyn, N.Y. is set to make his highly anticipated debut.
