Clemson Defeats South Carolina 7-2 to Win the 2026 Palmetto Series Rivalry

CLEMSON, S.C. – On Sunday, March 1, the Clemson Tigers defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks 7-2 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Tigers win the 2026 Palmetto Series as they defeated the Gamecocks in two out of three games over the weekend.

For Clemson, it is their 10th win this season, and their record moves to 10-1 overall.

Clemson head coach Erik Bakich talked about how thrilled he was with his team getting the series victory in one of college baseball’s biggest rivalries.

“I am so happy that we came away with this rivalry series win for our fans, players, and our program,” Bakich said. “It is a big deal. It means a lot to so many people, and it means a lot to us here at Clemson.”

Drew Titsworth stands out with a great relief outing

Clemson starting pitcher Talan Bell exited the game after four innings. Right-handed pitcher Drew Titsworth came on to replace Bell and shut down South Carolina’s offense.

In three innings, Titsworth had three strikeouts and gave up no runs.

It was a needed performance out of the bullpen for Clemson from a great veteran on their pitching staff.

Ty Dalley hits a home run against South Carolina, and other offensive standouts

The Tigers held a 4-2 lead heading into the fourth inning; Mercer transfer Ty Dalley then gave Clemson some insurance with a home run.

It was a solo home run out to left field that gave the Tigers a 5-2 lead. It was the senior’s first home run in Clemson uniform and the 59th home run in his collegiate career.

Dalley talked about being able to get his first home run with his new team during the win over the Gamecocks.

“It was awesome,” Dalley said. “To play in the best rivalry in college baseball and have a moment like that is a great experience.”

Clemson also got some big hits from Tyler Lichtenberger and Tryston McCladdie, who both had two-run singles in the game.

Up next for Clemson

The Clemson Tigers will play against the Michigan State Spartans on Wednesday, March 4.

The game is a neutral-site matchup at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C. The ballpark is home to the Greenville Drive, who is the High-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

The first pitch for that game is at 6 p.m. EST.
