As the 2025 NCAA Tournament continues to heat up, the transfer portal is already getting active as players shop around for where they will land next season.
The Clemson Tigers have already landed one of these transfer portal players. On Tuesday, June 3, former Alabama right-handed pitcher Ariston Veasey committed to play for Clemson in 2026.
He made the announcement on social media via his X account.
Veasey spent both the 2024 and 2025 college baseball seasons in Tuscaloosa playing for the Crimson Tide. The 2025 season is where he saw the most action with five appearances.
In 3 2/3 innings, Veasey struck out six hitters and posted an allowed opposing batting average of .231.
His most impressive appearance of this past season for Alabama came in a game against Jacksonville State on March 4. In one inning of work, he struck out three batters while only walking one. He gave up no hits and no earned runs over that stretch.
Overall, the right-handed pitcher has seen minimal time on the mound during his collegiate career, with just six total appearances.
Veasey is joining a Clemson program that has produced some good pitching talent as of late. This kind of talent includes players like Aidan Knaak and Lucas Mahlstedt, who are among the group of best starters and relievers in the country, respectively.
The potential is there for Veasey to thrive with the Tigers. He was a highly sought-after recruit in the 2023 class as he was a top 10 player from the state of Georgia.
He played for Starr Mill High School which is a little under an hour away southwest outside of Atlanta.
As a transfer, Veasey will be a newcomer to the Clemson program, along with a group of high school prospects that have formed a top 25 class according to Perfect Game.
