On Tuesday, March 3, Clemson head coach Erik Bakich announced that right-handed pitcher Dane Moehler has been cleared to pitch.
He announced this on the Clemson athletics flagship radio show, The Roar, on WCCP-FM.
“We thought that March would be the month that he would be back,” Bakich said on The Roar. “We will see him hopefully as early as this week.”
Moehler suffered a torn UCL that required surgery in February 2025. The injury came prior to the 2025 season in an intrasquad scrimmage.
He has yet to make an appearance on the mound in his collegiate career. That first appearance now seems imminent for the redshirt freshman, according to Bakich.
Moehler in high school
Moehler was a top 150 right-handed pitcher in the 2024 high school class, according to Perfect Game.
He played for Walton High School in Marietta, Ga., and was also a top-50 player and a top-10 right-hander in the 2024 class from the state of Georgia.
Clemson pitching gets more help
Moehler’s return will provide the Clemson pitching staff with even more help this season.
As of March 3, the Tigers have a 1.80 team ERA. Heading into this past weekend’s action against South Carolina, they had the second-best team ERA in all of college baseball (1.43).
Up next for Clemson
The Clemson Tigers have a 10-1 overall record in the 2026 college baseball season.
In their next game, they will play against the Michigan State Spartans on Wednesday, March 4, at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.
The first pitch is at 6 p.m. EST.
