Coastal Carolina Baseball News: Head Coach Kevin Schnall Extended Through 2030, Playing Multiple ACC Opponents in 2026

On Wednesday, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers decided to extend head coach Kevin Schnall through the 2030 season.

The 2025 college baseball season was Schnall’s first season as the head coach in Conway. He led Coastal Carolina to a 56-13 overall record and a 26-4 record in Sun Belt conference play.

The Chanticleers won the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles in Schnall’s first year of head coaching. They also went all the way to the College World Series and played against the LSU Tigers in the national championship series.

The appearance in the 2025 College World Series was the second time the Chanticleers made it that far in the NCAA Tournament.

Schnall received coach of the year accolades from Baseball America, Perfect Game, and the Sun Belt.

Schnall’s Playing and Coaching History at Coastal Carolina

Before becoming Coastal Carolina’s head coach for the 2025 season, Schanll played catcher for the Chanticleers from 1995-1999.

In 1999, he was named the Big South Conference Player of the Year and became the first-ever All-American from Coastal Carolina.

In 2001, he became an assistant coach for the Chanticleers and stayed in Conway through 2012.

Then, in 2013, he briefly left for an assistant coaching job with the UCF Knights. In 2016, he returned to Coastal Carolina to take over the associate head coach position, which he held through the 2024 season.

In 2025, he replaced national champion Gary Gilmore and assumed the role of head coach.

Coastal Carolina to Face Off Against Many ACC Opponents in 2026

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will have to play some ACC teams during the 2026 season. The ACC teams on their schedule include the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, North Carolina Tar Heels, Clemson Tigers, and N.C. State Wolfpack.

These ACC matchups will begin on March 3, as the team will travel to Raleigh to play N.C. State at Dail Park.

Then, on March 10, they will play a home game against Wake Forest at Springs Brooks Stadium.

Two weeks later, on March 24, they will play a road game against Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Then, on April 14, they will play Wake Forest for the second time. This time, they will travel to Winston-Salem to play at David F. Couch Ballpark.

The Chanticleers have a matchup against North Carolina in Chapel Hill on April 28.

Then, they will have to play Clemson for a second time in Conway at Springs Brooks Stadium. That game will be on May 5.

Coastal Carolina faced an ACC opponent seven different times last season. In those seven games, they went 4-3.
