Coastal Carolina Pitchers Cam Flukey and Hayden Johnson to Miss Time with Stress Fractures

Coastal Carolina pitchers Cam Flukey and Hayden Johnson will miss at least eight weeks, according to D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers.

Flukey is suffering from a stress fracture in his rib. Johnson is also dealing with a stress fracture. However, his fracture is located in his elbow.

Both Flukey and Johnson were Coastal Carolina’s top two starting pitchers heading into this season.

The Chanticleers are also without another good pitcher in Dominick Carbone, who recently received reconstructive UCL surgery.

Flukey and Johnson’s Numbers in 2026

After being a D1 Baseball third-team All-American in 2025, Flukey was heading into 2026 as one of the best pitchers in all of college baseball. He is a top 10 2026 MLB Draft prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

Flukey pitched in one game this season against the Fairfield Stags on opening day, February 13.

In that game, he pitched 5 2/3 innings and had seven strikeouts. He also allowed just two runs and walked only one batter.

Johnson did not pitch so far in 2026 prior to his stress fracture being announced.

In 2025, he was a stellar reliever for the Chanticleers with a 2.82 ERA in 38 1/3 innings of work. Over that same stretch, he had 55 strikeouts and allowed an opposing batting average of .197.

Johnson also picked up five wins and recorded a save last season.
