On Thursday, Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall announced that junior left-handed pitcher Dominick Carbone will miss the remainder of the 2026 college baseball season.
Carbone received successful UCL reconstruction surgery, according to WBTW’s Jevan McCoskey.
Schnall commented on how Coastal Carolina looks to bounce back from Carbone’s injury.
“We don’t ever tell guys they need to step up,” the Chanticleers’ head coach said. “We just tell guys to step in and take on some of those innings.”
Carbone was set up to be a massive part of Coastal Carolina’s elite pitching staff in 2026. D1 Baseball named him a preseason first-team All-American, and the National College Baseball Writers Association named him a preseason second-team All-American.

Carbone had a massive breakout season during Coastal Carolina’s run to the College World Series in 2025.
The southpaw had a 2.36 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 41 innings of work. He also picked up five saves and six wins during his time on the mound.
He did not and will not make an appearance on the mound during the 2026 season.
Up next for Coastal Carolina
After a midweek loss to the College of Charleston Cougars, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will look to bounce back in the Baseball at the Beach invitational event.
The event is being hosted at Coastal Carolina’s home ballpark, Springs Brooks Stadium. From February 20-22. The Chanticleers will play four games against the VCU Rams and the Illinois Fighting Illini.
