Colombia defeated Venezuela in extra innings to remain undefeated, while South American countries surprise Central America and the Caribbean
(Press Release; Pan American Baseball Confederation) – The Bolivarian Games continued this Tuesday with Colombia undefeated and in sole possession of first place after defeating Venezuela.
But earlier, Ecuador secured its first victory of the tournament against Curaçao by a narrow margin of 10-9. Ledy Álvarez led Ecuador, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Orlando León also contributed, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, and earning the save by retiring the final two batters of the game.
Peru won its second consecutive game of the tournament, narrowly defeating El Salvador 3-2.
José Salas stood out offensively, batting 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Denilson Santoyo earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on four hits, four walks, and striking out five. Marco Castellano recorded the save, pitching a scoreless inning with one strikeout.
Finally, Colombia defeated Venezuela 8-6 in eight innings to maintain its undefeated record taking sole possession of first place.
Brayan Buelvas led the way, batting 1-for-2 with a run scored and three RBIs, while Dayan Frías drove in two runs and scored one himself.
