Colombian P Nabil Crismatt Opts Out From Philadelphia Phillies

Righty Nabil Crismatt, who has primarily been a reliever in Major League Baseball, has opted out of his contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, making him a free agent.

Crismatt has spent the entire 2025 season with the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate, where he made 15 starts and threw 80 1/3 innings for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, posting a 3.81 ERA with 54 strikeouts and 17 walks. He last appeared in MLB last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, making five relief appearances with a 2.87 ERA over seven innings.

The Barranquilla, Colombia-native made 11 starts over the winter with the Gigantes del Cibao of LIDOM, posting a 2.65 ERA in 54 1/3 innings with 49 strikeouts and 11 walks. He has a five-pitch repertoire but generally relies on a four-seamer in the low 90s and a low-80s change-up that averages about 10 inches of horizontal break. Occasionally, he’ll mix in a curveball, a slider, and rarely, a sinker.

After throwing 67 1/3 innings in 50 appearances for the San Diego Padres in 2022, Crismatt has done most of his pitching at the Triple-A level with scattered brief call-ups to the majors for San Diego, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and Los Angeles. In 2023 and 2024, he struggled, with his ERA rising over 6.00 at every level where he appeared until he regained form in Triple-A in 2024.

According to Spotrac, Crismatt made $740,000 last season with the Dodgers, so a team looking for a middle reliever who could also make spot starts might have some interest in him.
