The Caimanes de Barranquilla, the champions of Colombia’s Liga Beisbol Profesional Colombiano, announced their roster for the 2026 Serie de las Americas, scheduled for Feb. 5-13 in Caracas and La Guaira, Venezuela.
One of the top starters for the Caimanes is Moisés Díaz. The right-hander posted a 3.38 ERA in 32 innings, striking out 23 batters in eight games, including seven starts.
Ezequiel Zabaleta is expected to be one of the Caimanes’ top relievers. He pitched 10 1/3 scoreless innings this winter in Colombia, striking out six. Zabaleta is expected to be named to Colombia’s roster for the World Baseball Classic.
Offensively, one of the leaders is Carlos Arroyo, the brother of Top 100 MLB prospect Michael Arroyo. Carlos Arroyo is a former minor leaguer who played in the Pittsburgh, Miami and Atlanta organizations from 2018-25 and reached as high as High-A in 2024 and 2025. He was the top hitter in Colombia’s winter league this season, batting .431/.488/.611 with two home runs and 14 RBIs for Caimanes.
Harold Ramírez is expected to be on Colombia’s World Baseball Classic roster and should be the team’s best overall hitter. The former major leaguer played in Mexico in 2025 and spent much of the 2025-26 winter season with the Naranjeros de Hermosillo. He hit .294/.344/.419 with five home runs and 49 RBIs. His five homers ranked second on the team, and he is expected to be the biggest power threat in Caimanes’ lineup.
Another hitter to watch is Tito Polo, who batted .316/.444/.649 with four home runs and 12 RBIs. Polo is a candidate to start in the outfield for Colombia at the World Baseball Classic and is expected to be among Caimanes’ top offensive contributors.
Andrés Angulo is another key bat for Caimanes. Angulo, who represented Spain at World Baseball Classic qualifiers last February, was one of the league’s top hitters this winter. He batted .278/.405/.485 with 15 RBIs and ranked among the league leaders with four home runs.
Caimanes will play a round-robin schedule against the six other teams in the tournament.
They open play Feb. 5 against Leones de León of Nicaragua’s winter league in La Guaira. On Feb. 7 and 8, Caimanes will face the champions of Curaçao’s winter league and Águilas Metropolitanas, the 2024-25 champions of Panama’s winter league, in Caracas. On Feb. 9, they will play Club Daom, the champions of Argentina, in La Guaira. The Caimanes will then face the LVBP representative in Caracas before closing round-robin play against Cuba on Feb. 11 in La Guaira.
The top four teams will advance to the semifinals on Feb. 12. All semifinal games and the championship game will be played in Caracas.
