Georgia Tech retained a prized high school baseball prospect after last week’s MLB Draft.

Cooper Underwood announced he plans to join the Yellow Jackets in 2026, despite being selected in the 12th round by the Milwaukee Brewers.

A left-handed pitcher from Allatoona High School, Underwood entered the 2025 MLB Draft as a top-150 prospect and is the top-ranked southpaw in Georgia. He also earned the 2025 Prep Baseball Georgia Player of the Year award.

Underwood is part of Georgia Tech’s 2025 recruiting class, which Perfect Game ranks No. 15 nationally. The class includes two additional top-150 prospects: Charlie Willcox, ranked No. 73, and Ryan Mitchell, ranked No. 24. Mitchell was taken in the second round by the St. Louis Cardinals.

Georgia Tech 2025 Season Results

The 2025 season marked the final year for longtime head coach Danny Hall in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets finished Hall’s career with a 41-19 overall record and a 26-9 mark in ACC play.

Georgia Tech claimed the ACC regular-season championship for the first time since 2011. This result secured the Yellow Jackets a second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, earning them the No. 2 seed in the Oxford Regional hosted by Ole Miss.
