The CTBC Brothers have announced that Chou Szu-Chi’s retirement games will take place from September 21 to 22. Chou Szu-Chi is retiring after a 20-year career in the CPBL.
Throughout his 20-year career, Szu-Chi has logged an impressive slash line of .307/.375/.454 and a .829 OPS while slugging 144 home runs and 948 RBIs.
Chou Szu-Chi started his career with the Macoto Cobras in 2005, playing in just 12 games and recording five hits. He would spend three seasons with the team, before moving on to dMeida T-Rex in 2008.
Szu-Chi joined the Brother Elephants in 2009 and would have the best five-year stretch of his career. From 2009-2013, he only hit under .300 once (.298 in 2010).
During the 2012 season, Szu-Chi would slash a career-high .365/.462/.587 and an incredible 1.049 OPS. He would hit 21 home runs over that season while knocking in 91 RBIs. He would be awarded league MVP at the end of the season.
After the 2013 season, he moved to the Chinatrust Brothers and played there for six seasons. Szu-Chi’s success continued, as he hit over .300 in four of those six seasons.
During the COVID-19 season, Chou Szu-Chi would move to the CTBC Brothers. He would finally capture wins in the Taiwan Series, winning back-to-back championships in 2021 and 2022.
After his playing career, Szu-Chi stated that he would like to write 20 more books. He is currently the author of two books, “The Science of Baserunning” and “Baseball Field Maintenance”.
