The Chinatrust Brothers defeated the Uni Lions 10-0 in Game 3 of the Taiwan Series to take a 2-1 series lead. The series will head to Tainan on October 23 for Game 4.
Four pitchers combined to lead the way for the Brothers with a five-hit shutout. Kirk McCarty drew the start and gave 5.1 strong innings. The American-born starter had a phenomenal regular season with 13 starts and a 2.76 ERA. He has brought the same juice to the Taiwan Series.
Thiry-four-year-old Hsieh Jung Hao closed out the game and secured the shutout. Even at his age, the Veteran is pitching great and is in search of his third Taiwan Series championship.
Offensively, Yueh Cheng Hua led the way for the Brothers. He went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a double. The Brothers and Lions were the two highest-scoring teams during the regular season, but the Brothers’ offense was the one that showed up in Game 3. Teng Song En hit the only home run of the game for the Brothers.
The Lions used eight different pitchers in the contest. Logan Ondrusek went five innings with 106 pitches. However, he gave up three earned runs and took the loss. The game was only 3-0 heading into the seventh inning. The Brothers scored four runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.
