The Curacao Goats will play in the Serie de Las Americas (SDLA) starting Friday, January 24. The SDLA event will be held at the Estadio Nacional Soberania in Managua, the Estadio Roberto Clemente in Masaya, and the Estadio Rigoberto Perez in Leon, Nicaragua.
The Latin American Series featured champions from club teams in the winter leagues: the Argentine Baseball League in 2019, Liga Profesional De Béisbol Colombia from 2013-19, the Curaçao National Championship AA League in 2018, the Liga Invernal Veracruzana in Mexico from 2013-19, the Veracruz State League in Mexico from 2017-18, the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Nacional in Nicaragua from 2013-19, and the Panama Probeis league from 2013- 19.
Curacao has not won a club league tournament in their nation’s history and has played in the 2018 Latin American Series with the 2017-18 Curacao National Championship AA League champion, the KJ74 WildCats, and the Caribbean Series in 2023 as an invitee without a winter league season on the island alongside the 2023 Curacao Professional Baseball League champion, the Curacao Suns in 2024.
Curacao, in the country’s first appearance at the 2023 Caribbean Series in Caracas, Venezuela, finished in seventh place at 2-5 during the eight-team field event, the first time that the tournament was expanded to that amount of participants.
Last year at the 2024 Caribbean Series at loanDepot Park in Miami, the 2023 Curacao Suns went 3-3 and finished in fourth place alongside losing in the third place game to the 2024 Panamá Probeis champion Federales de Chiriquí 5-4.
Curacao will bring several players to the 2025 Serie De Las Americas tournament who have played in their AA league, Curacao Professional Baseball league, international professional leagues, Major League Baseball, the independent leagues in the United States and Canada, and the minor leagues with the 30 clubs under manager Hainley Statia.
