The baseball tournament began with resounding victories for the three winning teams.
(Press Release; Pan American Baseball Confederation) – The baseball tournament at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, kicked off on Sunday with three decisive wins.
Curaçao was the first to emerge victorious, defeating El Salvador 11-0 in six innings by knockout.
Shendrion Martinus was the standout player, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and five RBIs to lead his team.
In the second game, Venezuela won its first game, blanking Ecuador 2-0, thanks to the outstanding performance of its pitchers.
Jesús Querales pitched 5.1 innings, allowing only two hits, one walk, and striking out eight. The win went to reliever Eduardo Figueroa, who struck out three in 1.2 innings.
Finally, Colombia also defeated host Peru by knockout in five innings with a final score of 11-0. Tito Polo stood out, going 3-for-3 with four runs scored, three RBIs, and a walk. Luis Escobar earned the win, pitching five innings, allowing one hit and striking out seven.
