The Dominican Republic will host the Detroit Tigers for a pair of pre–World Baseball Classic exhibition games in March in Santo Domingo according to a report by Abriendo Sports.
The games, which would be played Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal, will mark the first time the Dominican Republic national team has hosted contests featuring active Major League Baseball players as part of its final preparations for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
These matchups are expected to be the Dominican Republic’s only tune-up games before heading to Miami, where they will compete in Pool D. The Dominicans will open play March 6 against Nicaragua, followed by games against the Kingdom of the Netherlands on March 8, Israel on March 9, and Venezuela on March 11.
After a disappointing first-round exit in 2023 and a second-round exit in 2017, the 2013 World Baseball Classic champions will look to reclaim their second WBC title when the tournament begins March 6 in Miami.
