Dominican Republic Prospect Robinson Piña Traded to from Miami Marlins to Toronto Blue Jays

This week, the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays swapped prospects with each other.

The Marlins have sent Dominican right-handed pitcher Robinson Piña to the Toronto Blue Jays. In return, the Blue Jays sent Colby Martin to Miami. Martin recently converted to become a pitcher from being an infielder.

What is Toronto getting in Robinson Piña?

Piña does have some Major League Baseball experience under his belt in 2025. On June 20, he pitched an inning for the Marlins against the Atlanta Braves and gave up a solo home run to Austin Riley.

This has been his only appearance in a Major League baseball game thus far.

For Miami’s Triple-A affiliate, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, he made 11 starts, pitching 57 innings. During that stretch, he had a 3.47 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP. Piña has 54 strikeouts as well, compared to just 15 walks.

What is Miami getting in Colby Martin?

Martin recently moved up to the Toronto Blue Jays’ High-A affiliate, the Vancouver Canadians.

He made one appearance for them, pitching one inning on June 22. During that appearance, he recorded one strikeout and allowed no runs against the Eugene Emeralds.

In fact, Martin has allowed just three earned runs since June 1. He has spent the majority of this season playing for the Blue Jays’ Single-A affiliate, the Dunedin Blue Jays.

While with Dunedin, Martin had a 1.61 ERA in 22 1/3 innings of work. He struck out 29 batters while allowing an opposing batting average of .082.

The reliever also recorded five saves while allowing only four earned runs and six hits during his time with the Single-A team.

According to MLB.com’s farm system rankings from March, the Miami Marlins’ farm system ranks 16th in Major League Baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays’ farm system ranks 27th in Major League Baseball.
