The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets had their first fall exhibition game against the UAB Blazers on Friday. In that exhibition game, Drew Burress stole the show with two home runs in a 11-1 win for Georgia Tech in 12 innings. Burress also had three RBI in the contest.
The All-American hitter gave his thoughts on the Georgia Tech team in an interview with college baseball reporter, Monty Taylor.
“This team is so talented,” Burress said regarding the Yellow Jackets. “We have a lot of players that are expected to have big years. We have a team that is expected to win a lot of games.”
The junior outfielder is on the path to becoming one of the best players in college baseball during the 2026 season.
He is a two-time All-American and the 2024 National Freshman of the Year.
In his two seasons with Georgia Tech, he has a career batting average of .357, a career on-base percentage of .490, and a career OPS of 1.246.
Burress also has 44 career home runs and 129 RBI. He hit 19 home runs last season and was tied for the second most by a player in the ACC last season.
Burress also played a big part in the Yellow Jackets winning the 2025 ACC regular season championship.
The Yellow Jackets have another fall exhibition game at home in Russ Chandler Stadium on Friday, October 17.
They will play the West Georgia Wolves, and the first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. EDT.
