In October, the Duke Athletic Department detailed plans to enhance Coombs Field. The plan includes new and larger dugouts and bullpens.
Other upgrades include new dimensions to the playing field, lounging areas for fans beyond the outfield fence, and new seating along the first base line.
Duke is also getting new facilities for its players to practice in, including a new development and training lab.
Blue Devils head coach Chris Pollard supported the upgrades and argued that they would give the Duke baseball program an edge.
“The announced renovations to Coombs Field certainly get us closer to making our Omaha goals a reality. I am grateful for all the great players who have laid a foundation of success that makes it easy for supporters to want to invest in the program.”
Duke has not been to the College World Series since 1961. Pollard seems to believe that the upgrades coming will be huge for a program that has been on the rise, with back-to-back NCAA Tournament Appearances and an ACC Tournament title in 2024.
