During the U-23 Baseball World Cup, hosted in Shaoxing, China, the Duke Blue Devils had a representative of their team playing for Great Britain. Their shortstop, Wallace Clark, performed well during the event, helping to lead Great Britain to two wins.
Clark received 25 at-bats during his time playing in China. He hit at a .280 average and had an on-base percentage of .400. He finished tied for the second-most doubles out of any player in the tournament with three and scored four runs.
He is now heading into his senior season playing in Durham, and his season a year ago and the U-23 World Cup are signs that Duke could be seeing big things from their shortstop.
In 2024, Clark finished with a .285 average. He had an astonishing .451 on-base percentage, which he led the Blue Devils in, and 42 RBI. Clark showed little signs of being a steal threat, but he had some power mixed in, with five home runs and five stolen bases a season ago.
One of his best games came against Wake Forest back in March. Despite Duke losing, Clark finished going two for three with three RBI. Those two hits were a double and a home run. Another great game for him came during a double-header against Longwood in May. Throughout the two games, he went three for five with seven RBI. He helped Duke to win both games that day.
Later in the season, Clark helped Duke win the 2024 ACC Tournament. Now, he is looking to help them get back to the NCAA tournament this upcoming season, making it four appearances in five seasons. He should play a big factor in it, considering he is now a senior and has a year’s experience within the program and the Blue Devil infield.
