The Texas Longhorns begin a weekend series against the Santa Clara Broncos at Disch-Falk Field on Mar. 7. A change was made to their starting rotation for the weekend. Dylan Volantis, a freshman out of Westlake High School, will make his first career start for the Longhorns on Sunday.
Texas had previously gone to JUCO transfer Kade Bing to make starts for the team on Sundays.

The freshman has been impressive out of the bullpen for Texas this season. He has made three appearances and has gone 9 2/3 innings.
Over his stretch of pitching, he has struck out 13 batters while walking just two. His ERA sits at 1.86 this season.
Volantis has earned a win this season already. That win came back on Feb. 23 against Dartmouth.
During the Longhorns’ road trip to Nevada to play in the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic, he earned a save against Texas Tech. He went three innings to close out the game and gave up no earned runs and no walks.
The first pitch for Sunday’s game and Volantis’ first career start in Austin is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
Texas currently has a 10-1 record. They have four more games to play before SEC play begins against Mississippi State in Starkville.
