Elly De La Cruz has quickly become one of the most exciting players in the MLB in just his second season. The 22-year-old from the Dominican Republic has been breaking records in his first full season with the Reds. With both his bat and legs, De La Cruz has electrified crowds and done things few MLB players before him have ever accomplished.
The blazing speed De La Cruz has showcased during his first two seasons has been possibly his most impressive tool. The current leader for steals this season with 58, De La Cruz has 15 more stolen bases than anyone else in the league. De La Cruz has flashed this unreal speed for the past two seasons and landed on another list with historic names.
De La Cruz stole 35 bases in 98 games as a rookie, bringing his career total to 93 and tying him for fifth on the list of most stolen bases within a player’s first two seasons in the National League’s history.
