Major League Baseball recently announced plans to hold a game at the historic Bristol Motor Speedway next season, and Elly De La Cruz gave fans a creative preview. The league announced the game would be played between the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves on August 2 next year.
The Reds star from the Dominican Republic had some fun with one announcement video posted on social media. The 22-year-old has quickly become one of the faces of the league and has showcased his personality on multiple occasions this season, which fans have fallen in love with.
De La Cruz recreated the famous intro to the Disney movie Cars in an announcement video for the game. He recited some quotes from the movie, including “I am speed,” which character Lighting McQueen utters before his first race in the film.

The young international star is, in fact, speed as he has wowed fans with his speed on the basepaths in his first two seasons. De La Cruz has stolen 59 bases in his first full season in the MLB, 16 more than anyone else in the league. The first-time All-Star in 2024 has been a major impact player for the Reds and will continue to grow into the face of the league for years to come.
