Elly de la Cruz Gets League-Leading Steal No. 40

Since his debut last season, Elly De La Cruz has made it clear to MLB fans that he is a must-watch TV.

On Saturday, De La Cruz became the first player to reach 40 stolen bases this season. In a game against the Cardinals, De La Cruz hit an RBI double in the third inning. His 40th stolen bag would come soon after. It took him just 83 games to do it this season, an impressive feat to complete before the All-Star game

The Dominican shortstop recently put himself among special company for his ball club with a steal on June 27th. He stole his 38th base in the first 81 games of the year, which is good for third all-time among Reds players since 1900. De La Cruz, 12 stolen bases ahead of second place in the MLB, has quickly become the league’s best in that art. The Reds have found themselves another bag-stealing maestro with De La Cruz.

He has continued to impact play on the field with his bat throughout the first half of the season as well. Batting .252 with 14 home runs, De La Cruz is more than just a speedster.

MLB fans will continue to have their eyes glued to the screen anytime Elly De Le Cruz is on to see what he may do next.
