Estadio Quisqueya Enters New Stadium Talks With Dominican Government

The Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has started talks with the Dominican government about a possible reconstruction of the stadium, via Hector Gomez on Instagram.

The President, Luis Abinader, will receive a report from the committee to evaluate the possibility of renovation or relocation. The project is focused on a new stadium that would be suitable for hosting games of a future World Baseball Classic. The stadium would have to to meet all the requirements that MLB stadiums have to meet.

The current stadium was opened on October 23, 1955. It most recently had a renovation in 2014, with multiple renovations before that. The stadium hosted two MLB Spring Training games between the Boston red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays in 2024 as part of the MLB World Tour.

The Estadio Quisqueya is able to host 13,186 people for sporting events and upwards of 25,000 people for concerts. The stadium is the home to both the Tigres del Licey and Leones del Escogido of LIDOM.
