The Federacion Cubana de Beisbol will not send a team to the Intercontinental Professional Baseball Series in Colombia in 2024.
According to a report from Actualidadcuba.com, FCB president Juan Reyndalo Perez Pardo said his organization won’t send a team to the event because the federation, which governs baseball in the island nation, would have to agree to a five-year contract that would preclude participation in other events, such as the Caribbean Series.
A team of Cuban players will compete in the event, however. The team will be run by the Cuban Professional Baseball Federation, an organization representing Cuban players who have left the country and live abroad. Former Major League pitcher Orlando Hernandez is the general manager of the expatriate Cuban team.
