The World Series is here, and two of the biggest franchises will take center stage. Between Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gerrit Cole, there’s no shortage of star power. With two of the biggest fan bases playing, the sportsbooks should be busy. Here are five unique betting lines beyond winners and losers you should know.
*Odds from FanDuel Sportsbook
World Series MVP: Ohtani +220; Judge +490; Soto +550; Betts +700
The four biggest stars are fittingly the four favorites to win the World Series MVP. Judge and Ohtani are also favorites to win MVP of their respective leagues.
Odds to sweep: Dodgers +1200; Yankees +1300
This will be the 120th World Series and the 12th time the Dodgers will take on the Yankees. In the 199 previous editions of the Fall Classic, there have been 21 sweeps, eight of which have come from the Yankees. The Dodgers have only ever completed one sweep in the World Series.
Odds for any player to hit 6+ home runs and break the World Series home run record: +4800
No player has six home runs in this entire postseason. Six home runs in one series seem crazy, considering Giancarlo Stanton hit fou in the American League Championship Series and looked superhuman. However, this game has all the likely candidates. Stanton, Ohtani and Judge are all capable of going on superhuman stretches at the plate. Three players are tied for the record of five home runs in the World Series, and all three times, the Yankees or Dodgers have been involved in some way.
Reggie Jackson (NYY) 1977 against the Dodgers
Chase Utley (PHI) 2009 against the Yankees
George Springer (HOU) 2017 against the Dodgers
Odds for a Game 7: +200
The World Series has gone to a decisive Game 7 40 times. Of those 40, the visiting team has won 21 times. If this series does go to Game 7, history favors the Yankees as they will be on the road.
Odds for a 500+ foot home run: +10000
Just three 500-plus foot home runs have been hit in the Statcast Era (since 2015). Of those three, one was hit by a player in this series: Stanton. There has not been a 500-plus-foot home run since 2022.
