Florida State and Mississippi State to Play Fall Exhibition in Pensacola

Florida State and Mississippi State will meet in a fall exhibition baseball game on Saturday, October 18, at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, Florida. The ballpark is home to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins.

In a release from Mississippi State Athletics, first-year head coach Brian O’Connor discussed the opportunity for his team in Florida’s Panhandle.

“I’m excited about the group of young men that will wear the ‘M over S’ logo this year and can’t wait for them all to come together and get to work this fall,” O’Connor said. “We’re looking forward to traveling down to Pensacola in October and appreciate the hospitality already shown by the Blue Wahoos. We hope to see a lot of maroon and white in the stands when we take the field against the Seminoles.”

Florida State played at Blue Wahoos Stadium for a fall exhibition against the Auburn Tigers in October 2024.

A Familiar Matchup from the 2025 NCAA Tournament

Florida State and Mississippi State last faced each other in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, where the Bulldogs were the No. 3 seed in the Tallahassee Regional, which was hosted by the Seminoles at Dick Howser Stadium. Florida State won the regional and advanced to the Corvallis Super Regional, beating Mississippi State twice in the Tallahassee Regional by a combined score of 15-5.

At the time, Mississippi State was led by interim head coach and current pitching coach Justin Parker.
