On Friday, it was revealed that former Baylor Bears pitcher Carson Bailey, who had planned to transfer to Texas A&M, will not be playing in College Station for the 2026 college baseball season.
Instead, Bailey will play for McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, next season.
D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers stated the reason for the decision is not academically related.
Bailey’s 2025 Season with the Baylor Bears – Bailey was one of Baylor’s starting pitchers during the 2025 season. In 12 starts and 53 1/3 total innings of work, he had a 4.89 ERA with 56 strikeouts. He also had allowed an opposing batting average of .239.
One of the left-hander’s best games came against the Arizona State Sun Devils on May 3. Despite being credited with the loss, Bailey pitched a season-high six innings and had six strikeouts. He also allowed just two earned runs.
Another great game for Bailey came early in the 2025 season on March 23 against the Kansas State Wildcats. In a 19-4 win for the Bears, Bailey threw a season-high seven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of work.
The southpaw had three wins credited to his name this season against the UTSA Roadrunners, Loyola Marymount Lions, and Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Baylor finished the 2025 season with a 33-22 overall record. They were 13-17 in Big 12 play.
Bailey’s Original Transfer Portal Commitment to Texas A&M – Bailey had originally committed to Texas A&M after he entered the transfer portal on June 9.
According to 64 Analytics, he was a member of the Aggies’ transfer portal class that ranked 12th in the country.
Instead, he is heading to McLennan Community College who was a very good JUCO team last season.
The Highlanders had a 48-18 overall record, and they were 23-9 in North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play.
