Former MLB Player Signs With Long Island Ducks

The Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League signed former Major League Baseball outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr., the franchise announced on April 4.

Bradley, 33, was born in Richmond, Va., and has played 11 seasons in MLB. He was with the Boston Red Sox from 2013-20 and in 2022, the Milwaukee Brewers in 2021, the Toronto Blue Jays in 2022, and the Kansas City Royals in 2023.

He was an All-Star in 2016 and won a World Series with the Red Sox in 2018. He also won the American League Championship Series MVP Award and a Gold Glove that year.

On March 2, 2023, Bradley signed a minor league contract with Kansas City and was assigned to big league camp the same day.

Last season, Bradley had his contract selected by the Royals on March 30, 2023. He played in 43 games, hitting .133 with 113 plate appearances, 14 hits, five doubles, one home run, six RBI, five walks, and 29 strikeouts before he was released on June 16, 2023.

Bradley started the 2022 season with the Red Sox and played in 92 games batting .210 with 290 plate appearances, recording 57 hits, 19 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 29 RBI, 17 walks, 58 strikeouts, and a .578 OPS before he was released on August 4, 2022.

Bradley signed a one-year contract with Toronto on August 9, 2022. He spent the rest of the year with the organization hitting .178 while playing in 40 games with 80 plate appearances, smacking 13 hits, four doubles, one home run, nine RBI, seven walks, and 19 strikeouts before electing for free agency on November 7, 2022.

In the 2021 season, Bradley played in 134 games with the Brewers and batted .163 with 428 plate appearances. He ripped 63 hits, 14 doubles, three doubles, six home runs, 29 RBI, seven stolen bases, 28 walks, 132 strikeouts, and a .497 OPS.

During his 11 seasons in MLB, Bradley has played in 1,182 games with 4,192 plate appearances and a lifetime average of .225, with 839 hits, 204 doubles, 27 triples, 109 home runs, 449 RBI, 69 stolen bases, 361 walks, 1,066 strikeouts, and a .684 OPS.

The Long Island Ducks went 66-58 in the Atlantic League North Division during the 2023 regular season. The 2023 champion Lancaster Barnstormers swept them in the best-of-five Division Series. The Ducks will play their first game of the 2024 regular season against the Lancaster Stormers on April 25 at 6:35 p.m. EST at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip, N.Y.
