On Tuesday, February 17, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the Georgia Southern Eagles 25-1.
The Yellow Jackets put together a masterful display of hitting and pitching in their first midweek matchup of the season. Here is a look at the key players in the game.
Four Georgia Tech hitters with three hits apiece
As a team, the Yellow Jackets had 26 hits. Four Georgia Tech players had three hits, which included center fielder Drew Burress, first baseman Kent Schmidt, third baseman Ryan Zuckerman, and designated hitter Will Baker.
Zuckerman had a double and a triple, while Burress and Schmidt also had doubles.
All four of those Georgia Tech players combined for nine RBIs.
Two of the Yellow Jackets’ hitters also had home runs in the game. Catcher Vahn Lackey and outfielder Parker Brosius both went deep.
Lackey had a multi-hit game and also finished with four RBIs.
In total, 15 different players tallied a hit for Georgia Tech in their dominant win over Georgia Southern.
Dylan Loy and Jackson Blakely stand out with big pitching performances
Tennessee transfer Dylan Loy started on the mound for Georgia Tech against the Eagles.
In two innings of work, he struck out six of the seven batters he faced and allowed just one hit. Loy also gave up no walks and no runs.
Jackson Blakely earned the win for the Yellow Jackets. In three innings of work, he had five strikeouts and allowed just two hits, no walks, and no runs.
Georgia Tech pitchers Carson Ballard, Adam McKelvey, and Brett Barfield all had multiple strikeouts in their outings against Georgia Southern as well.

After a 4-0 start to the 2026 college baseball season, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will play their next game on Friday, February 20.
They will face off against the Stony Brook Seawolves. The game is at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta, and the first pitch is at 4 p.m. EST.
