Kyle Lodise was on fire in an eight-inning mercy rule win by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday.

In the 18-7 victory, the Yellow Jackets’ shortstop hit three home runs and added a triple for a four-hit night. He was a major contributor to the scoring effort by Georgia Tech with five RBIs and three runs scored.

The four hits Lodise had tonight were more than he had in his past four games combined. His batting average now sits at .325 and his on-base percentage is at .495.

The shortstop made comments about his performance postgame on Georgia Tech baseball’s X account

“I think being the lead-off hitter is the tone setter. That’s what I take pride in doing…we just got back to keeping it simple and obviously good things happen when you keep things simple,” Lodise said.

It is the first three-home run game for Lodise in his collegiate career dating back to his early days playing NCAA Division II baseball at Augusta University.

The win for Georgia Tech is their 18th of the season and fifth in ACC play. On Saturday, March 22, they will look to win the series in South Bend, Ind. The first pitch for that game against Notre Dame at Frank Eck Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
