Georgia Wins the Southeastern Conference Regular Season Title for the First Time Since 2008

The Georgia Bulldogs won the 2026 Southeastern Conference (SEC) regular season title after sweeping the LSU Tigers at Foley Field this past weekend.

It is the first SEC regular-season title for Georgia since 2008. That same season, the Bulldogs went to the College World Series and played Fresno State in the national championship.

World Baseball Network takes a look at Georgia’s historic season and what has made this Wes Johnson’s best team in Athens.

On Pace for the Most SEC Wins in Program History

The Georgia Bulldogs have 21 SEC wins this season. This ties their program record for most conference wins in a season, which was set in 2019.

One more win for Georgia against the Auburn Tigers at Plainsman Park will make the 2026 Bulldogs the winningest team in program history in league play.

The Auburn series presents a tall challenge for Georgia. The Tigers have 16 SEC wins this season and have won their last six weekend series.

Where Georgia ranks statistically in college baseball

The Georgia Bulldogs are powered by a big-time offense. They rank fourth in the country in team batting average (.325) and have the fifth-most hits out of any team (545).

Georgia is also the nation’s best power-hitting team. The Bulldogs lead the country in home runs with 131. The team with the second-most home runs is Oklahoma State with 111.

The Bulldogs are also second in the country in total runs this season with 466. This leads to an average of nearly nine runs per game.

Up next for Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs have a 41-11 overall record. They rank fourth in the country, according to D1 Baseball’s recent top 25 rankings. The only teams that are ahead of them are UCLA, North Carolina, and Georgia Tech.

Georgia’s next game is on Thursday, May 14, against the Auburn Tigers. That is a road game for the Bulldogs at Plainsman Park, and the first pitch is at 8 p.m. ET. The game can be watched on SEC Network.
