MEXICO CITY — During All-Star festivities celebrating 100 years of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol, Diablos Rojos del México right-hander Gerardo Reyes spoke with World Baseball Network Chief Correspondent Matthew Tallarini from Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú, sharing his pride in representing Mexico and his club on one of the league’s biggest stages.
In the first interview, Reyes described what it feels like to play for the Diablos during a season of national celebration, how he’s connected with teammates like Wilmer Ríos and Art Charles, and how their collective focus is on bringing another championship home to Mexico City.
Reyes also spoke about manager Lorenzo Bundy’s leadership and what makes him such a valuable mentor across the clubhouse. He reflected on Mexico’s performance at the last World Baseball Classic and emphasized the country’s rising international profile thanks to players and coaches who continue to elevate the game.
In the final segment, Reyes shared his admiration for the history of the Mexican League and what it means to be part of the league’s centennial celebration in the capital. He spoke with reverence about icons like Fernando Valenzuela, Vicente Romo, and Héctor Espino, noting how much the league has grown and how special it is to be contributing to its next chapter.
All three interviews were recorded from the field at Estadio Harp Helú, home of the Diablos Rojos and host site for this year’s 100th anniversary LMB All-Star Game.
