Harold Ramirez, son of a former MLB player, in action for the Tampa Bay Rays. Now joining Tecos de los Dos Laredos for the 2025 Liga Mexicana de Beisbol season, along with Socrates Brito, Luis Cessa, and Alonso Gaitán.

Veteran outfielder Harold Ramírez has signed with the Naranjeros de Hermosillo of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico for the upcoming winter season.

The former Major League Baseball outfielder played six seasons across four franchises, posting a solid career slash line of .285/.322/.406 with 38 home runs over 536 games. In 2025, he played in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol for the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos, where he excelled at the plate—hitting .359/.412/.496 with nine home runs. His .359 batting average ranked 11th in the league and led his team.

Ramírez is no stranger to winter ball, having previously competed in Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Most recently, he played 13 games for the Caimanes de Barranquilla in Liga Profesional Beisbol Colombiano, posting a .579 OPS. He then joined the Águilas Cibaeñas for the round robin stage of the Dominican Winter League (LIDOM), where he slashed .353/.386/.490. After the Águilas were eliminated, Ramírez joined the Tigres del Licey and delivered a standout performance in the LIDOM Finals, batting .452/.485/.516. He was a strong candidate for Finals MVP honors should Licey defeated the Leones del Escogido in the decisive Game 7.

This winter marks Ramírez’s return to Mexican winter ball for the first time in a decade—his last appearance was with the Venados de Mazatlán at age 21. Now, at 31, the Colombian slugger will use the season as preparation for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Ramírez is expected to be a key piece of Colombia’s lineup as they chase a historic berth in the quarterfinals. Colombia will compete in Pool D alongside Puerto Rico, Canada, Panama, and Cuba, with all games being held at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan. The team opens the tournament against host nation Puerto Rico on March 6.

In addition to prepping for the WBC, this winter also serves as a showcase for Ramírez, who had interest in playing in Japan’s NPB recently, will try and make the jump in 2026. With previous MLB experience and a strong recent track record in both summer and winter ball, he’s likely to draw attention from NPB scouts. If he makes the jump, he’ll join a growing list of Colombian players finding success in Japan, including infielders Jeter Downs and Jordan Díaz.
