Hawaiian Heat: Wehiwa Aloy and the Reggae Song from Kawao and Bubba Souljah

The 2025 college baseball season was an exceptional one for former Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy.

So much so that the 2025 Golden Spikes winner received a music video from Arkansas baseball on social media. In the video, the reggae song from the Hawaiian band Kawao featuring Bubba Souljah titled “Hawaiian Heat” plays with Aloy’s highlights over it. Aloy has roots on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

Bubba Souljah even name drops Aloy and his brother Kuhio with the line, “Bash Braddahs comin’, see di fire in their eyes.”

Bash Braddahs is the collective name for both Wehiwa and Kuhio due to the term “braddah” being a variation of the word brothers.

Aloy and his 2025 Season with Arkansas

In 2025, Aloy led Arkansas to the College World Series with a historic season. He won the Golden Spikes award, which goes to college baseball’s best player.

He is the third Arkansas Razorback ever to win the Golden Spikes Award. Andrew Benintendi won the award in 2015, and Kevin Kopps won it in 2021.

Aloy was also a consensus All-American, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year, and was first-team All-SEC.

The shortstop had a .350 batting average and led Arkansas in home runs with 21. He also had an on-base percentage of .434, 19 doubles, and 68 RBI.

In the 2025 MLB Draft, Aloy was a first-round pick as he was selected 31st overall by the Baltimore Orioles. Heading into the 2026 MLB season, he is a top five prospect in Baltimore’s farm system. Other SEC players that are top five Orioles prospects are Vanderbilt’s Enrique Bradfield Jr. and Auburn’s Ike Irish.
