Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani has been getting noticed by just about everyone in the world, and even being recognized and celebrated by one of the world’s top condiment brands.
Heinz took to their Instagram page, posting a picture of a bottle of ketchup labeled “Sho Heinz Tomato Ketchup,” plugging a contest that would give one lucky person free ketchup for life if Ohtani achieved a season with 57 homers and 57 stolen bases.
Heinz was ready to commemorate Ohtani’s historic season by creating 57 limited-edition bottles and for a chance at free ketchup for life. Fans were able to participate in the giveaway by posting a picture on their Instagram account and using the hashtag, “#ShoHeinz57.”

On September 28, Heinz reacted to Ohtani’ 57th stolen base of the season, posting on Instagram that Ohtani had crossed off one part of the challenge. Ohtani would only have one game to attempt to hit three home runs in a chance to get one lucky person a shot at acquiring free ketchup for life.
Unfortunately, Ohtani would finish the season with 54 home runs, and would go above and beyond and record 59 stolen bases.
He wasn’t able to catch up to the home run portion of the 57/57 goal.
