The Federacion Salvadorena de Beisbol announced their official roster for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, El Salvador on Friday.
This is San Salvador’s third time hosting the Central American and Caribbean Games. The last time San Salvador hosted the Central American and Caribbean Games was in 2022, when Puerto Rico beat Panama in the gold medal game, and El Salvador finished seventh in front of Venezuela, Honduras, and Guatemala.
El Salvador has only placed high at an international senior regional event in the 1990 Central American Games, where they beat Nicaragua in the gold medal game. El Salvador previously won bronze medals at the 1977, 2001, 2013 and 2017 Central American Games.
The baseball tournament at the Central American and Caribbean games will be played at Parque De Pelota Saturnino Bengoa from June 24 to July 1. El Salvador is ranked 59th in the World Baseball Rankings and will play No. 32 Curacao in the first game of the 2023 Central American Games on June 24 at 10 p.m. EDT.
The other six countries participating in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games are world No. 7 Cuba, No. 3 Mexico, No.10 Dominican Republic, No. 11 Puerto Rico, No. 6 Venezuela, and No. 17 Nicaragua.
All games during the baseball event of the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games will be streamed on GameTime.sport website.
El Salvador will carry players that are in their federation’s university league.
All of the coaching staff from the El Salvador team will be from their federation university circuit league.
The top three nations in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games will qualify for the 2023 Pan American Games.
The baseball portion of the 2023 Pan American Games will be from October 21-27 at the Baseball and Softball Center in Cerrillos, Chile. Three nations have already qualified for the 2023 Pan American Games: Chile, as the host nation; Colombia, for placing first in the 2021 Junior Pan American Games; and Brazil, for placing first in the 2022 South American Championships.
