Rafael Devers didn’t have the highest batting average among international players in Major League Baseball last week.

He didn’t have the best on-base percentage, slugging percentage, or OPS, either.

But he drove in eight runs for the Boston Red Sox in his last six games, with six hits, including a triple and a home run, to earn World Baseball Network‘s International MLB Player of the Week honors.

Devers, 27, also scored four runs this past week, as the Red Sox went 5-1, including a road sweep of a three-game set in Miami.

A native of Sanchez, Dominican Republic on the north coast of the island, Devers is in his eighth season in Major League. Baseball, and has spent his entire MLB career in Boston. He is a three-time All-Star, a two-time Silver Slugger, and has earned votes towards the American League MVP award in four different seasons.

He has also played two winter seasons with the Leones del Escogido of LIDOM, one of two teams based in the country’s capital, Santo Domingo. In 38 games with the Leones, Devers went 30-for-125 with seven doubles and 10 RBI.

Devers ha a pair of RBI in four separate games this past week, including a 6-5 win at Miami on July 4, where he went 0-for-3 but drove in one in the first and one in the sixth, each with a groundout to first base.

The Red Sox finish out a three-game set at New York this weekend and have Monday off. Sunday’s game against the Yankees will be nationally televised on ESPN.

The Oakland Athletics visit Fenway Park Tuesday through Thursday, and the Kansas City Royals are in town July 12-14. All Red Sox games are televised in New England on NESN and can be streamed via MLB.tv.
