MLB Pipeline has reranked its Top 100 prospects list. With countless international players in the minor leagues, here are some names to keep an eye on in the latest ranking.
No. 3 Leo De Vries (Athletics)
De Vries was the top international prospect in his signing class. He was the No. 18 prospect before the season and has jumped to No. 3. De Vries was in the San Diego Padres organization, but was the headline player in the Athletics deal to send Mason Miller to the Padres. The A’s gave up an elite pitcher with multiple years of control for De Vries, so he will now have to prove he was worth it.
No. 4 Sebastian Walcott (Texas Rangers)
Walcott signed for $3.2 million in 2023 out of the Bahamas. He was the No. 71 prospect on the 2024 Top 100. He jumped to No. 17 in the preseason rankings and is now one of the best prospects in baseball. He started the year in Double-A, but has not cracked Triple-A just yet. There have not been many players from the Bahamas to make the big leagues. Walcott will be just the 10th if he can make it.
No. 5 Jesús Made (Milwaukee Brewers)
Peña and Made could end up being the future for the Brewers. Made was No.56 before the season, and is now a top-five prospect in the sport. The shortstop from the Dominican Republic is also in High-A and has dominated so far in the minor leagues. He could continue to fly through the minor leagues and make his debut in 2027.
No. 8 Samuel Basallo (Baltimore Orioles)
The Orioles signed Basallo in 2021. At the time, his $1.3 million signing bonus was an organizational record. It has been quite some time since he signed, but he is getting close to a debut. He has been in Triple-A all season. He finished last seaosn as the No. 17 overall prospect.
No. 12 Josue De Paula (Los Angeles Dodgers)
De Paula has become one of the quickest risers on the Top 100. He was not a Top 100 prospect last year, but checked in at No. 40 in the preseason. Now the outfielder who signed for $397,500 in 2022 is a top 15 prospect. He was born in Brooklyn, but moved to the Dominican Republic soon after.
No. 15 Travis Bazzana (Cleveland Guardians)
Bazzana was the first overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft. He was the preseason No. 10 prospect, and is at No. 15 in the new list. Bazzana was just called up to Triple-A and could make his debut next season. He was born in Australia and attended Oregon State University. Bazzana was a phenomenal college player and is on his way to making an impact in the big leagues.
No. 16 Luis Peña (Milwaukee Brewers)
Just one year after Jackson Chourio took the league by storm, the Brewers have two more elite prospects on their way to the big leagues. Peña was not on the preseason Top 100, but checks in at No. 16 on the rerank. He is the highest-ranked player to not be on the preseason Top 100. The infielder is already in High-A.
No. 26 Franklin Arias (Boston Red Sox)
Arias is the latest prized prospect in the Red Sox system. He rose 52 spots from the preseason Top 100. The 19-year-old Venezuelan shortstop made his High-A debut this season and is the No. 1 prospect in the Red Sox organization following the graduations of Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell, and Marcelo Mayer.
No. 32 Josue Briceño (Detroit Tigers)
Briceño was the biggest riser from the preseason Top 100 to now. He goes from No. 95 to No. 32. The Venezuelan catcher/first baseman was phenomenal in High-A and is now in Double-A.
