Italian P Sam Aldegheri Returning to Los Angeles Angels

Sam Aldegheri is returning to the Los Angeles Angels’ Major League roster for the second time this season.

He was previously recalled from Double-A Rocket City for the Angels’ series at Boston on June 2, and was returned to Double-A on June 5. He threw 2 1/3 innings in the Angels’ 11-9 loss, allowing two unearned runs on one hit and striking out two.

It was his second taste of MLB action after making three starts for Los Angeles late in the 2024 season, during which he threw 13 innings with a 4.85 ERA and a WHIP of 1.932, striking out 10 and walking 10.

Aldegheri has already confirmed that he will pitch for Italy at the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Italy has been assigned to Group B at Daikin Park in Houston from March 6–11, along with the United States, Mexico, Great Britain, and Brazil.

The native of Verona, Italy has made 14 starts for Double-A Rocket City in 2025, throwing 72 2/3 innings with an ERA of 4.83, 63 strikeouts and 40 walks.
