Italy’s Parma Clima Celebrates 50th Anniversary of First Title to Open 2026 Season

There’s something powerful about connecting generations, and Parma Clima embraced that idea as it prepares to open the 2026 season. The club marked the 50th anniversary of its first championship in 1976 with a ceremonial event at Tenuta Santa Teresa on Strada Beneceto.

Players, coaches, and executives from past and present came together to honor the 1976 Germal Parma team, the group that delivered the organization’s first Italian title and helped establish its identity.

Club president Luca Meli set an ambitious tone for the season ahead, challenging the league’s top contenders while reinforcing Parma Clima’s commitment to competing at the highest levels, both domestically and internationally.

The event also featured strong support from civic and baseball leaders. Marco Bosi, Parma’s councilor for budget and sport, represented the city, while Matteo Daffadà spoke on behalf of the Emilia-Romagna region. Italian Baseball and Softball Federation vice president Gigi Bissa reflected on Parma’s deep baseball roots, sharing personal memories from his playing days, and regional president Riccardo Soglia outlined ongoing initiatives to grow the game among young athletes.

A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the team’s 2026 uniforms in classic “Germal style,” along with a commemorative logo celebrating the milestone season.

Filiberto Molossi of Gazzetta di Parma introduced a series of anniversary initiatives, including a fan vote to select a “Team of the Half-Century,” a summer photo exhibition at City Hall, and a forthcoming book chronicling the 1976 championship run.

The most emotional moment came during a storytelling segment featuring members of that historic team, including manager Giulio Montanini and former player Franco Bardiani. Their reflections brought a sense of reverence to the room, ending with a long, heartfelt ovation.

General manager Massimo Fochi later detailed the vision behind the 2026 roster and shared that Parma Clima, as reigning European champions, is expected to compete in the upcoming World Club tournament this winter in Mexico.

Team captain Riccardo Flisi closed the program with a message of focus and resilience, emphasizing the group’s determination to bounce back from the disappointment of 2025 and the unity that defines the clubhouse.

The evening concluded with the formal introduction of the roster, the announcement that Giacomo Bertoni will throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the season, and a recognition honoring Meli’s leadership. Organized by Monica Iori and Rodrigo Fava, the event also featured a newly produced club video that captured both the emotion of the moment and the promise of what lies ahead.
