OMAHA, Neb. – On Sunday, June 14, Troy designated hitter Jabe Boroff had two hits and two RBIs in a 12-8 win for the Trojans over the Ole Miss Rebels in the 2026 College World Series.
Those two RBIs for Boroff brought his RBI total this postseason to 21. He became the first college baseball player to surpass the 20-RBI mark in a postseason since 2018. That year, Oregon State catcher Adley Rutschman had 20 RBIs as he helped lead the Beavers to the 2018 national championship.
Rutschman went on to win the Golden Spikes award the next season in 2019. The Baltimore Orioles drafted him with the first overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft. Rutschman is in the midst of his fifth MLB season with Baltimore. He is a two-time All-Star and won a Silver Slugger award in 2023.
Boroff talked about being placed in an elite circle that included a player like Rutschman.
“Wow, it means a lot,” Boroff said in a shocked manner. “It is an awesome accomplishment. However, it is not something I think about. Whenever I am out there, I play just good for the guys.”
Boroff’s 21 RBIs are also the most by a college baseball player since 2008.
Boroff and his crazy NCAA Tournament run in 2026
In 2026, Boroff has played in nine postseason games with the Trojans. He has multiple hits in six of those games and has a total of six home runs as well.
He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Gainesville regional that sent Troy to their first-ever super regional. The Trojans are making history, and Boroff has been one of the biggest factors in doing so.
Up next for Troy
After a 12-8 elimination win over Ole Miss in the 2026 College World Series, Troy stays alive in the race for a national championship.
They will play the loser of the game between North Carolina and West Virginia on Tuesday, June 16, at 2 p.m. ET. That will be another elimination game at Charles Schwab Field that will be on ESPN.
